No way to put into words what I feel when looking at photos from refugee camps. Children's names. Their stories. Their memories. Fears. Hopes.
Here's just a quick sketch I did using a photo as reference. Syrian refugees living in Dahuk, Iraq.
Quick assignment today:
Custom birthday card for a friend to give to his wife. Must have today — illustrate, design, print. Reference — Instagram photo of wife and daughter (sweet). Insert Mickey Mouse ears hats — taking a trip to Disleyland for birthday. Pen and watercolors — a welcome break from the computer. Lime green and blue — a welcome break from WV orange. :)
I have been carrying around a tiny sketchbook dedicated to quick sketches from coffee shops and restaurants. Black pen only. Must start and finish on location. Couldn't help adding the bar background in this one. Love the colors. This one is from last night at Ba Bar on Capitol Hill.
Sketch from Oddfellows.
For my Christmas card.
